The Tasting Table / Origin comparison

Use a side-by-side brew to explore The Serengeti and The Bloom. Keep origin, roast, and process separate as you interpret the difference.

Know the two bags

The Serengeti is our Tanzania single-origin medium roast, with citrus zest, dark berry, and a medium, winey body in its tasting profile. The Bloom is our Ethiopia Natural light-medium roast. The names identify specific products, not complete national flavor profiles.

What the comparison can show

It can help you decide which coffee you prefer and how each behaves in your brewer. Because the coffees differ in more than one way, it cannot prove that origin alone caused a flavor difference. The word natural describes a process, not added fruit flavoring.

Brew them consistently

Two measured filter brews beside a tasting notebook for comparing Tanzania and Ethiopia natural coffees.

Try 15 g coffee and 240 g water for each small filter brew, using a suitable brewer and comparable grind. Use the same water and serving cups. Taste at similar temperatures, without sweetener first if that suits you.

Record three observations

Write one aroma association, a description of body, and a note about the finish. Then taste again after cooling. If one cup seems poorly extracted, make a second attempt before deciding you dislike that coffee.

Adjust for the next bag

If you enjoy lively brightness, note which cup expresses it in a way you like. If you want more depth with milk, test both with the same amount. A coffee's printed notes give you a starting vocabulary; your recipe determines the drink you actually make.

For a broader comparison, our single-origin guide places these choices beside other coffees in the range without claiming every coffee from a country tastes alike.
